We would like to invite interested new researchers to attend our BASEES Postgraduate Workshop: Using archives and research libraries in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, on 8th December 2021 4-6pm (GMT). The online workshop will be aimed at those who have never undertaken archival research in this part of the world before, but those with some experience who would like to learn more will be welcome too. We’ll be covering the basics like what to bring and how to take notes effectively, as well as more difficult aspects like managing the political situation and bureaucracy effectively. Besides the main talk from Professor Antony Heywood, attendees will be able to attend breakout sessions run by academics with experience in provincial Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Central Europe, the Balkans, Caucasus, Baltic states, and parts of Central Asia.
