International Ukrainianists Conference in Prague
“Ukraine as a Cultural and Historical Narrative (Language, History, Literature)”

Date: 24.11.2017 – 26.11.2017
Organizers: East European Club, Czech Association of Ukrainianists, Institute of Eastern European Studies of the Faculty of Art of Charles University with the support of Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic.

Place: Faculty of Art of Charles University.

For the past several years, Ukraine – its past, present and future – has been one of the most discussed areas in the world. Maidan, the Crimean annexation, the war in the East Ukraine not only forced the whole world to talk about Ukraine, but also became an impulse for Ukraine to find its own orientation, looking for the possibilities of consolidating the society, appealing to the problems of cultural and national identity, creating national myths and reviewing its history. Such an interest prompted organizers to hold a conference of Ukrainianists mainly from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. The purpose of the conference is to promote scientific interest and popularize papers involved in the study of Ukraine, its language, literature, history, culture and politics beyond its borders.
A special guest of the conference is Ukrainian historian and publicist Jaroslav Hrytsak.

Working languages of the conference are Ukrainian and English.
The best papers will be published in the scientific magazine „Oriens Aliter“.
